In 2008 we surveyed the waters around Qatar, in the Persian Gulf.

I took a lot of photos of the impressive view from our hotel in Doha. I also got some photos of the local market, otherwise known as “the souq”, and a few more of myself and some colleagues smoking shisha. Shisha is a popular form of tobacco in the Middle-East, with all sorts of nice fruity flavours available. The stuff we were smoking seemed to have surprisingly little nicotine.
